PATTERN EXPECTATION

I designed this with my niece in mind, she’s about to start a whole new life as a wife and mother. Of course with lots of expectations.

Pattern contains: line-by-line instruction, charts and I explain how to customize Expectation to the size you would like it to be. Pattern support is available through e-mail

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
Before blocking:
Neck to waist; 50 cm /19.7 inch. Shoulder to shoulder; 105 cm / 41.3 inch.
Before blocking:
Neck to waist; 60 cm /23.6 inch. Shoulder to shoulder; 120 cm / 47.2 inch.
You can adjust the pattern to get a larger shawl; I will explain how to customize your Expectation shawl under “Customize Your Expectation” at the end of the instructions.

MATERIALS
Yarn: 7 balls of aran weight yarn (approx. 648 yards/594 meters)
The model is shown in Carezza from Adriafil [70% angora, 10% wool, 20% polyamide; 91yd / 83m per 25g ball].
Needles: 1 set US # 8 / 5 mm circular (at least of length 80 cm/32 inch) or other size to obtain gauge.
1 tapestry needle.

GAUGE
16 sts / 20 rows = 4" / 10 cm in stockinette stitch

ABBREVIATIONS
co: cast on
k: knit
k2tog: knit 2 together. Forms a right leaning decrease.
p: purl
pm: place marker
RS: right side
skp: slip stitch, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over. Forms a left leaning decrease
s2kp: Slip next 2 sts to right needle as if to knit them together; k next st, pass both slipped stitches, together, over stitch just knit. Forms a centered double decrease.
sm: slip marker
sts: stitches
WS: wrong side
yo: yarn over
